OK MAYDAY is a Virginia based band composed of two brothers–David and Kelly Bollmann–and two friends Stephen Lee and Matthew Osborn. Their emergence ushers in a fresh sound that brings invention to Alternative-Pop.
The band has already solidified their rightful spot in the industry with writing credits such as J. Cole’s "Sparks Will Fly (feat. Jhene Aiko)" and Haley Reinhart’s "Some Way Some How", attracting the attention of renowned Grammy-winning executive producer Harmony "H-Money" Samuels (Maroon 5, Fifth Harmony, MGK, Chris Brown), who subsequently signed them to a production deal.
OK MAYDAY’s track “Blossoms” packages powerfully tranquil verses and strutting basslines in the choruses creating the perfect uplifting, melancholy pop song. Released during the beginning of the pandemic, their music video helped reinforce a sense of community lost during an isolating lockdown. Since its release, the video has amassed over 1.3 million views on Youtube, a testament to the resonance that listeners felt with it.
Everyone can agree that the world has recently seen the worst of times, however new music from OK MAYDAY is the breath of fresh air that was surely needed. Their extremely energizing new single “Colorful” was coupled with an equally vivid and lively video. The melodic guitars, impactful bass, and empowering vocals all serve to curate the band’s unique sound.
Their next single “Good” sets itself up as the feel-good-breakup banger of the year and features swirling synths, a driving beat and arena-ready melodies. ABOUT THE BAND
Q. Tell us your story.
A. We actually all grew up together in Virginia Beach/Hampton Roads. David and myself (Kelly) are brothers and we met Stephen when we were around 8/9 years old. Stephen knew Matt from a different group of friends and they were in a metal band long before Ok Mayday was anything. Fast forward to 5 years ago and after a small stint as another band and writing group, we put our heads down and created a few records in LA that started the Ok Mayday journey. Since the journey began, we’ve been able to work with Chad Hugo, Timbaland, J-Cole, Harmony Samuels in co-writing and producing endeavors as well.
Q. What do you want others to say about you?
A. That our music helped them heal, escape, dream, feel, and be inspired.
Q. What is your definition of success?
Kelly - To do what we are good at as a career and be able to spend our time wisely.
Stephen - To make meaningful art.
Matthew - To have fun.
David - Inspire someone to pursue their dream.
Q. What are your short-term goals?
A. To put out a few projects that have been in the works with the visuals and to play some shows again.
Q. Your long-term goals?
A. To go on a world tour and have multiple projects out and a real connection with our fanbase.
